    Date Submitted: 2009-09-15
    Date Considered: 2009-10-13
    Committee: Academic Affairs
Action: Amended and Passed in Committee 7-0-0
Result: Amended and Passed in General Body 27-4-4
    Remarks:
Whereas: The University has recently outlined some of its “Mavericks Go Green” initiatives, one of which is waste reduction; and
Whereas: Examples of waste reduction initiatives include UT Arlington employees switching to “paperless” earning statements and professors no longer providing paper copies of syllabi to their students (they are available online); and
Whereas: The current default settings for documents to be printed on campus include the printing of jobs on one side per sheet of paper, also know as “single-sided.”
Be It Therefore Resolved That: The default settings for documents to be printed be changed to print in duplex, also know as “double-sided” (to reduce waste and the current associated costs of printing jobs) on all printers that are capable of printing double-sided, while maintaining the option for single-sided printing.
Be It Further Resolved That: the Office of Information Technology disseminate information regarding this change via emailing members of the University community.
Be It Further Resolved That: OIT explore the option of adding a pop-up window to provide additional convenience to users.
