| Whereas: | Texas is behind other prominent states in availability of Tier One research universities to its residents; and |
| Whereas: | California has nine Tier One institutions, New York has seven Tier One institutions, and Texas has only three Tier One institutions; and |
| Whereas: | the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, having six million people, is by far the largest metropolitan area in the United States without a Tier One research institution; and |
| Whereas: | the availability of Tier One research institutions is vital for an area in terms of training a quality workforce, developing strong industry, attracting brilliant minds and top entrepeneurs, providing top educational opportunities for its residents. |
| Be It Therefore Resolved That: | the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports efforts by the Texas Legislature to encourage the development of additional Tier One research institutions in Texas. |
| Be It Further Resolved That: | the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports the vision of UT Arlington quickly becoming a Tier One research institution. |
