    Remarks:
Whereas: Texas is behind other prominent states in availability of Tier One research universities to its residents; and
Whereas: California has nine Tier One institutions, New York has seven Tier One institutions, and Texas has only three Tier One institutions; and
Whereas: the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, having six million people, is by far the largest metropolitan area in the United States without a Tier One research institution; and
Whereas: the availability of Tier One research institutions is vital for an area in terms of training a quality workforce, developing strong industry, attracting brilliant minds and top entrepeneurs, providing top educational opportunities for its residents.
Be It Therefore Resolved That: the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports efforts by the Texas Legislature to encourage the development of additional Tier One research institutions in Texas.
Be It Further Resolved That: the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports the vision of UT Arlington quickly becoming a Tier One research institution.
