Remarks:

Whereas:

most classes require students to purchase textbooks; and

Whereas:

the prices of college textbooks have risen in recent years, placing a significant financial burden on students; and

Whereas:

students struggle to afford the costs of higher education.

Be It Therefore Resolved That:

the UT Arlington Student Congress supports efforts by the Texas Legislature to create a tax holiday during which textbook purchases are exempt from sales tax.

Be It Further Resolved That:

the UT Arlington Student Congress supports efforts by the Texas Legislature to require publishers to disclose the prices of and the availability of electronic versions for textbooks.
