GSS Student of the Month

The GSS Student of the Month distinction is designed to recognize a graduate students who has excelled in his or her co-curricular discipline and contributions to the Graduate Student Senate.


Each month during the academic year, the Graduate Student Senate executive board accepts nominations for the Student of the Month. GSS committee members and committee chairs/co-chairs submit an online form to nominate students for the award. The Committee Chairs each select a student to forward to the executive board for final consideration. The GSS executive board makes the final selection and recognizes one graduate student at the last GSS general body meeting of the month.


To be recognized as the GSS Student of the Month, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled as a current graduate student at UT Arlington
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have attended at least 80% of the GSS general body and committee meetings at the point of their nomination
  • Represent the GSS to the best of their ability
  • Possess leadership qualities, display a cooperative attitude, and show courtesy to fellow students

Note: A student who has been selected as Student of the Month will not be eligible to receive the award again during that academic year. No anonymous nominations will be accepted.
