Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips,
The stride of my step, The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered What they see in me.
They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery.
When I try to show them They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's the arch of my back, The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand, The need of my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

And God said, I'll make a woman
A woman of substance
A woman of pride
A woman who is able to put
Petty things aside
A woman of integrity
A woman of love
A woman who is worthy
of the treasures from above
A woman who is genuine
A leader in every way
God said
I'll make a Woman
and call her
AKA

"My Sister, My Friend"

She held my hand-
she dried my tears
She was the encouraging
whisper in my ear.
When I could no longer go on
she was my inspiration.
My determination.
Kind words from her-
could lift my spirit.
And in her- I entrust
my love and my strength
Who is she...
My sister, my friend
a great love till the end.

UnbreAKAble is how God created me to be,
Only by His divine will, nothing can destroy me
I was placed into the first and finest sorority
In order to fulfill my duties and enter my destiny
See everyone cannot be chosen to be in this class
And in order to make it here, it starts from your past
You have to understand that dedication comes from within
And if you don’t have it, then you will never fit it
Now the path to this glorious place is long and hard
People may underestimate you, but your soul is never scarred
You have to be patient and wait for the right time
Because if you try to soon, you can lose your place in line
UnbreAKAble is the type of woman I am
To be in my shoes you have to cross the burning sands
Acknowledging all of those who came before you
And understanding what our founders wanted to do
See many want to be in this place of sisterhood,
But rarely can the stand in place to be understood
They talk a good game to get in the door
But as soon as they get there hearts hit the floor
Others will despise you and don’t want you to succeed,
They try to under mind you and the foundation of the sorority
They will call you names and try to bring you down
Smiling in your face and leaving with a frown
UnbreAKAble is what I’ve chosen to be,
Because respect comes a mile away in this sorority
You have to walk, talk, and think with pride
Because the steps of an AKA are harder with each stride
So UnbreAKAble is what we stand for
Anything less is unacceptable
The ladies you see with ZM on their chest
Will always be remember and respected as the best.

To be one…is to know what AKA is all about
It’s not about the salmon pink and apple green,
Nor about the pretty stance or the pinky thing
It’s not about the party walks and the way we dance,
Nor about the way we fix our hair and the way we prance
It’s not about how we look each day
Nor about who has what to say
It’s not about if we like someone or not
Nor about what new outfit is whack and which is hot
It’s not about being pretty in pink or gorgeous in green,
Nor about how stuck up you think we can be
It’s not about being able to Skee-Wee
Nor about which frat is looking at me…
But it is about service to all mankind,
And the dedication we have is for a lifetime
It’s about respecting one another for how God created us to be
And about commitment in this finest sorority
It’s about understanding where we all come from
and where we are going,
And about acknowledging one another on this life filled journey
It’s about sisterhood and friendships,
And about meeting new people to build perfect relationships
It’s about working together for a divine purpose,
And knowing how to handle tough situations when they surface
It’s about being confident and knowing what to say,
And about understanding there is no other way
To be one…. is to know and respect ANY lady of AKA
