OLYMPUS MONS: The Astronomical Society At the University of Texas at Arlington

Howdy, folks! Here we are with the new semester. With that brings lots of new responsibilities and that sort of thing. (I'm trying to figure out HTML.) I hope to get together with Kelly soon to give this page a new look. If anyone can do it, I know she can. Anyway, check back with us every now and then for information updates. AGENDA & ORGANIZATIONAL LAYOUT: 97 Fall Semester

    Astrophotography Group: Meet once a month: FW Dark Site

    Night Observing: Meet once a month: FW Dark Site

    -Beginners Group: Group Leaders: Kelly Mayfield & Jimmy Tarango This group will consist of those just beginning to observe The group will learn their way around the sky, fundamental basics of astronomy, as well as, learn how to use the telescopes.

    -Planetary/Deep Sky Observing: This group will consist of more advanced individuals. This group will be doing planetary observing as well as observation drawings. In addition to planetary observation, this group will also be doing some deep sky observation.

  • Channel Zero Committee: Head of Committee: Jimmy Tarango -Goal of Committee : Take full advantage of the UTA television channel using it to get the word out to the public about not only Olympus Mons, but Astronomy.

  • Olympus Mons Website: Website Developer: Kelly Mayfield

    -Goal of Website: Publicize Olympus Mons & Inform Members & Astronomy Students

    Activities:

  • ULRICH Day Observations of The Moon: Daytime Observations of the moon on the UTA Campus for students. The observations will be once to twice a month on first quarter moon phases

    Trips:

  • If people would please give me suggestions, we can plan this. I've always liked Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. Then there are others... :) Anyway, I need to get away soon, so let's decide. More information soon.
