Learn how to plan, develop, improve, and maintain a game, from Day 0 to Version 1.0! Everyone will work together on this as a team -- and we do mean EVERYONE! Whether or not you have the experience, this is a great way for the Game Developers Club to come together and release a fun game to show off who we are!

The tutorial will focus on a simple game played with two people on the same computer. Each player will control a small 2D ship seen from the top down. The goal of the game is to destroy the other player's ship. The program will run on Win32 platforms only for ease of use.

  • Player 1 will use the mouse to rotate their ship's direction, right click to move forward, and left click to fire.

  • Player 2 will use the left/right arrow keys to rotate their ship's direction, the up arrow to move forward, and space bar to fire.

  • Each player will be able to fire bullets at some rate, with a maximum number of bullets in flight at any given time.

  • Each player's ship upon hitting the other player's bullets will take a certain amount of damage, and when damage reaches a certain point, their ship will be destroyed and the other player will be awarded a point.

  • The game ends when one player has five points. The winning player will be shown on screen.

Head on over to the Ship Duel board in our official forums to check it out!
