We are more than just economics. The National Association of Business Economists is an organization that promotes student interest in economics while integrating the faculty and undergraduate/graduate students.
Our objectives are
(1) To promote economics on campus
(2) To give students who are interested in business and economics the opportunity to participate beyond the classroom
(3) To host guest speakers who have experience in business and economics.
(4) To take field trips to various local businesses and professional organizations
Academically: Our student/faculty mixers provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the faculty in a casual, informal environment. Students who form academic relationships with faculty members gain more from the college experience. By joining NABE, you can also discover which faculty members match your preferences so that you can make more informed decisions when registering for classes.
Socially: NABE holds numerous social events (including an annual informal banquet). In the past, NABE has even hosted hockey and baseball nights.
Professionally: NABE is a great way to develop your resume and leadership skills. Our distinguished speaker series will allow you to make contact with professionals and network with local employers. Each semester we invite a speaker from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas to speak at one of our economics seminars. We have also hosted seminars on NAFTA, healthcare, taxes, and various policy topics. We also arrange field trips to local businesses and professional organizations (including a tour to the Federal Reserve of Dallas).
Don’t wait until your college years have ended to start associating with the business world! Start by joining NABE today.
