Welcome to the Pre-Optometry Professional Society,
University of Texas at Arlington.

UTA POPS is a non-profit, pre-professional organization established in 2001 to provide support and information helpful to those students in pursuit of an optometry career.

What is "pre-optometry" exactly?
Pre-optometry is a curricular focus for students who plan to enter an optometry school program. Most pre-optometry students are Biology or Chemistry majors because many of the degree requirements overlap with the pre-optometry curriculum, but a pre-optometry student may major in virtually any discipline.

The pre-optometry curriculum is very similar to other pre-professional studies such as Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, and Pre-Pharmacy. It consists of classes required by optometry schools for admissions and those necessary for OAT (Optometry Admissions Test) preparation. Feel free to drop by any of our meetings to learn more. POPS is open to everyone.
