Orange and Blue are in!

29.jpgA few high-fashion UTA students got the chance to walk the runway—and they didn't have to fly to New York to do it!

PRSSA put on a Fashion Show for UTA students at Blackfinn Bar & Grill, which is also where the previous year's "PRSSA Mixer" was held.  Arlington boutique Teesie's Attic and the UTA bookstore provided apparel for the models to wear.

The fare from Teesie's Attic is, as the company's owner puts it, "brings a little bit of California fashion to Texas."  From stylishly ripped denim to the "Modern Laundry" set, Teesie's attic brought an understated, west-coast cool to the show.

And UTA is never far away when you're in Arlington.  The UTA Bookstore provided plenty of Maverick-embellished sportswear, from running pants to simple t-shirts.

But of course, this isn't your far-fetched, New York runway fashion show.  There were no crazy outfits or costumes. In fact, until they started strolling down the long red carpet, most people would think they looked like regular college students.  That's the trick to good fashion, of course: no matter how expensive or exclusive the clothes are, good fashion isn't good fashion unless you can be yourself.

PRSSA Members Submit PR Plan to National Competition

Students Racing on practice census forms.

If you've been thinking to yourself over the past few months that you've been seeing a lot of buzz about this year's census, then PRSSA is probably responsible.

Five PRSSA Members have been working for several months planning and executing PR strategies to build participation and overall involvement in the census.

It's all part of the Bateman Case Study Competition, a national event in which PRSSA chapters at universities all over the country show off the best they have to offer in public relations strategies.

Most college students, whether by age or income, are usually considered hard-to-reach by census takers.  The UTA Bateman team realized that the best way to reach college students is through fun, clever messages—which is exactly what they did.

From Facebook and Twitter pages, to a YouTube spoof of MTV's "The Real World," the Bateman team brought a fun, hands-on approach to educating people about the census.  This even included blown-up versions of the actual census questionnaire that let students race their friends.

With much of the competition over, the team is simply waiting for the judging results to be delivered from New York.  If UTA's team is one of the top three in the country, they will get to present their plans to the best PR professionals in the nation.

See you all there!
