About Us

SHPE is the Source for Quality Hispanic Engineers and Technical Talent. National: The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. The concept of Networking was the key basis for the organization. SHPE quickly established two student chapters to begin the network that would grow to encompass the nation as well as reach countries outside the United States. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.

SHPE Region 5 Regional Leadership Development Conference (RLDC)

  • I encourage those wanting to hold officer positions at SHPE UTA to attend RLDC. The event will give you ideas and help to prepare you for the leadership positions. There will be workshops as well a career fair at the conference. An agenda will be provided as the conference date approaches. We plan to carpool or rent a van if enough people go and the school will most likely reimburse us for ground travel. Please email or text Juan Villegas at juan.villegas@mavs.uta.edu or at 972-854-9176 if you are interested by the end of this weekend since the date is coming up soon.
