About Us

The UTA Finance Society is a student organization whose members share a common interest in the study of finance and the pursuit of careers related to the field of finance.  Membership in the society is open to all university majors and all students are encouraged to apply.

Today's employers are interested in highly diversified and motivated students and we provide an avenue for society members to develop networks with prospective employers as well as provide a pool of high quality job Candidates for those employers.

Our primary goals are to maximize the value of your academic experience, enhance your job opportunities and never forgetting to have fun along the way.

History of the UTA Finance Society

The Finance Society of UTA is a local chapter of the Financial Management Association (FMA), an international organization comprised of financial executives, analysts, professors, and students worldwide.  There are over 350 student chapters around the world.

We began in 1982 at the UTA College of Business Administration (COBA) and has been ranked in the top 10 of student organizations for the last eleven consecutive years.  In August of 2002, we received the "Superior Chapter" award from FMA.

The Finance Society has been recognized for innovative prowess by an article in "The Shorthorn".  The Society was the first UTA student organization to hold officer elections online.

Top Six Reasons Why You Should Join the UTA Finance Society

  1. Become a part of a world-ranked organization.  Employers value involvement in student organizations.
  2. Develop Skills that are attractive to employers.  The Finance Society provides a framework within which students can develop those interpersonal, leadership and team-oriented skills that are indispensable in the workplace.
  3. Enjoy Networking Opportunities.  Every semester we invite companies' representatives to speak at our meetings about career opportunities.  Past visitors have included EDS, Wells Fargo, Century 21 and Lockheed Martin.  You will also have many opportunities to meet top-level executives through the Finance Society and the Department of Finance and Real Estate's Distinguished Speakers Series during each spring semester.
  4. Add your Resume to our Resume Book.  Every semester we submit the Finance Society Resume Book to leading business firms.  Each member is given the opportunity to have their resume included.
  5. Build camaraderie and have fun.  Most of us work to put ourselves through school, so time is precious.  We work hard for our grades, but we also like to have fun, especially with others who are going through the same experiences.  We will get together for bowling, billiards and the banquet.  You will be in great company.
  6. Because it is "A no risk, high yield investment"!
