Working in Student Publications allows students to earn valuable experience that complements coursework and prepares them for careers in journalism and many other areas, to become involved in a respected campus activity ... and to earn a paycheck.
 
Student Publications Jobs:
 
We employ about 70 students each semester.  Most are on the staff of The Shorthorn. Currently-enrolled UTA students who meet UTA employment guidelines are eligible to apply for these positions; all positions are paid. Staff are selected through an application/interview process. Qualifications, pay rates and work schedules vary position-to-position.

For casual employees (newsroom staff, photographers, production/online, ad sales), staff members are hired one semester at a time. As each semester’s staff is formed, applications are accepted for all positions. After that time, as staff turnover occurs during a semester, applications are accepted for open positions ... and only for open positions. Position openings are advertised in The Shorthorn and in the Student Publications office in the lower level of the University Center.
 
For hourly employees (receptionists, courier, news clerk, ad assistant, marketing assistant, accounting assistant), staff members are hired one semester at a time, but applications are taken only as job vacancies occur. Position openings are posted on the Student Employment Services Web site and advertised in The Shorthorn and in the Student Publications office in the lower level of the University Center.
