Dual Credit Academy

The Dual Credit Academy at the University of Texas at Arlington is designed for high school students who wish to gain college credit while still attending high school.

UTA Dual Credit Affiliate Deadlines

UTA Dual Credit Academy


  • Students must be high school Juniors or Seniors.
  • Students can enroll in up to two (2) courses per semester not to exceed more than eight (8) hours.

Program Admission Requirements and Policies

High School juniors or seniors can participate in the UT Arlington Dual Credit Program by demonstrating college readiness through one of the following:

  • A rank in the top 20% of your current class, or
  • a PSAT score of at least 480 on Evidenced-based reading and writing, and 530 on Math, or
  • a PLAN composite score of at least 23, or
  • a 3.5 unweighted grade point average (4.0 scale), or
  • an SAT score of at least 1070 in combined Critical Reading + Math (test taken prior to March 2016) or an SAT score of at least 1140 in combined Evidence-based Reading + Math (test taken during or after March 2016), or
  • an ACT composite score of at least 23.
  • If a student fails a college credit course they are attempting at UTA, they will no longer be eligible to attend UTA as a Dual Credit student.

Additionally, students must satisfy the Texas Success Initiative requirement for college readiness (TSI) by achieving the minimum passing standards on the TSI Assessment Test or equivalent.

Equivalent methods to satisfy the TSI requirement include:

  • Achieving an SAT score of at least 1070 in Critical Reading and Math (with a minimum score of 500 in Critical Reading and 500 in Math) if taken prior to March 2016, or
  • An SAT score of 480 in Evidenced-based Reading and 530 in Math on the Redesigned SAT taken after March 2016; or
  • An ACT composite score of at least 23 with scores of at least 19 in both Math and English.
  • STAAR end-of-course (EOC) with a minimum Level 2 score of 4000 on the English III shall be exempt from the TSI Assessment required under this title for both reading and writing, and a minimum Level 2 score of 4000 on the Algebra II EOC shall be exempt from the TSI Assessment required under this title for the mathematics section.

The cost is $50 per semester hour ($150 per three-hour course). Books and Parking are extra. Some courses have additional equipment and lab fees.

Attend UT Arlington after High School Graduation

Dual Credit Academy students planning to attend UT Arlington after high school graduation*, students must submit the following information:

  • Completed Update Application
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT or ACT scores (official scores can be sent to UT Arlington from SAT or ACT)

* Students are no longer eligible to enroll in UTA coursework at dual credit tuition and fee rates once the student has completed the requirements for the high school diploma.

Registration will be required once a date has been scheduled.

Parking & Directions

All orientation attendees must register their vehicle with UTA Parking Services. Students will receive an email three days before their orientation session with a link to register their vehicle. Once registered, orientation attendees can park in any student lot on campus. We recommend parking in the College Park District garages, as they provide the closest student parking to the University Center, where orientation will take place.
