Urban Nonprofit Management Certificate Program
Demand for nonprofit-management education has surged along with job growth in the nonprofit sector and with the increased competitiveness between nonprofit agencies. Students, looking to move into the sector are finding entry easier and opportunities greater with nonprofit-management credentials.
Public-affairs programs, like the one at SUPA, offer a reliable venue for nonprofit-management education because, historically, public and nonprofit organizations are both grounded in public service. But, more importantly, SUPA’s program is tailored specifically to nonprofit-organization needs, guided by an advisory board of nonprofit professionals.
The certificate in Urban Nonprofit management is intended as preparation for students who are working in or are considering management careers in a nonprofit organization. The program consists of fifteen hours of coursework including six hours of required “core” courses and nine hours of electives.
The certificate requires completion of fifteen hours of coursework including two required core courses, URPA 5354, Management of Nonprofit Organizations and URPA 5355, Nonprofit Institutions. The certificate also requires three additional courses selected by the student with approval of the certificate program advisor.
The Certificate in Urban Nonprofit Management program is open to any student admitted for graduate study at UT Arlington by completing an application form available from the Urban Nonprofit Management Advisor. A student who is not seeking a graduate degree but wishes to enroll in this certificate program must first apply to the graduate school and be accepted as a “special, non-degree seeking student.”
