Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs)
A graduate-research assistantship (GRA) compensates students for a maximum of 20 hours of work per week. Pay rate is determined by educational level, experience and funding source.
Assistantships are awarded on the basis of qualifications and need. GRAs work with faculty on research projects and the duration of assistantships is typically nine months. GRAs appointed for 20 hours a week are entitled to pay in-state tuition for the period of the appointment.
Ph.D. students are eligible for a maximum of four academic years of GRA funding and Master students are elibible for a maximum of two academic years of GRA funding. However, continuous funding is not guaranteed and GRAs must reapply every academic year.
