The American Society for Public Administration

ASPA provides a limited number of conference grants and scholarships for graduate study. For more information and an application, go to the ASPA Awards Program site.

Women’s Transportation Seminar Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1981 by the WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation. The scholarship is awarded to women pursuing graduate studies in transportation or a related field. For more information and an application, go to the WTS Scholarship Information site.

Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT) William J. Pitstick Public Management Scholarship

This program provides support for academically promising students enrolled in graduate-level public-administration, urban-affairs, and other closely related programs offered by North Texas universities. Get more information and/or download an application at the UMANT Web site by selecting the “Downloads” tab and clicking on “Scholarship Application.” Deadlines for application are generally set in late August.

NCTCOG Urban Fellowships and Transportation Fellowships

The North Central Texas Council of Governments awards scholarships under two programs: the Urban Fellowship Program which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and the Transportation Fellowship Program which is funded by the The Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, and the Texas Department of Transportation. These fellowships assist women, minorities, and economically disadvantaged persons to obtain master’s degrees in public management or planning.

TCMA Clarence E. Ridley Scholarships

The Ridley Scholarship, awarded by the Texas City Management Association, provides financial assistance to persons who have chosen to pursue a graduate degree in public administration. Application is made in the fall of the first or second year, the award is made in the spring.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships provide three years of support for advanced study to approximately 900 outstanding graduate students in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, and behavioral and social sciences.

Students in city-and-regional-planning and urban affairs may apply for NSF Fellowships. Public administration students may qualify if their program of study is strongly policy oriented. (MPA applications usually require additional program information.)
