The Institute of Urban Studies is the principal university-based program in Texas for mobilizing the intellectual resources of the School and the University to respond to the issues and challenges facing communities in the state.

Since 1967, the Institute of Urban Studies has been committed to enhancing the governance and management capabilities and civic capacity of government and nonprofit organizations.  Professional staff, faculty, and graduate students conduct applied research studies, deliver customized planning and management assistance and engage in related outreach activities for clients throughout Texas.
