Our Approach
For many years, the Institute has customized its services to communities using a format that in academic circles is known as “service learning.”
Graduate students under professional staff and faculty supervision receive opportunities to gain field experience in such areas as project design and planning, data gathering and analysis, small group facilitation, report preparation and presentation, all the while providing a valuable community service. Other projects are undertaken by professional staff and faculty willing to share their expertise for the benefit of individual communities or agencies of state government seeking specialized research assistance.
