Last year, the Institute responded to over 40 requests for assistance, from as far north as the Texas panhandle to as far south as Houston. Over 65 projects were completed in 2009-2010 for both urban and rural communities in the North Texas region. More importantly, these communities have gained direct benefits as a result of working with the Institute. For example, the 30 design projects completed by our graduate students working at the Arlington Urban Design Center this past year have saved the City of Arlington, as well as neighborhood groups, non-profit organizations and local businesses, over half a million dollars. More projects are already underway for this year including a feasibility study, economic development plan, comprehensive plan, parks plan, and corridor study.
