Community, State and National Expertise
Air North Texas
Air North Texas is a regional clean air partnership and campaign to provide a comprehensive air quality resource. UT Arlington is the first university in the state of Texas to join the Air North Texas collaborative.
Arlington Conservation Council
Arlington Conservation Council, a non-profit organization in Arlington and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, promotes efforts including environmental awareness and conservation of natural resources.
Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education
Further signaling its commitment to sustainability, UT Arlington has formally joined the AASHE. More than 225 four-year academic institutions are members of AASHE. UT Arlington becomes the fourth in Texas, alongside UT Austin, Rice University, and Trinity University. The President’s Sustainability Committee and its work groups will find the AASHE web page to provide a wealth of case studies, reports, guidelines, and other materials dealing with every aspect of campus sustainability, from best practices in landscaping and dining services to course syllabi and surveys on student environmental awareness.
City of Arlington, Environmental Services
Coordinator of sustainability efforts, Environmental Services emphasizes storm water quality activities: public education; water quality monitoring; control of sediment and pollutants; industrial inspection; and spill response.
Fort Worth Audubon Society
The Fort Worth Audubon Society promotes awareness, appreciation and understanding of birds and other wildlife while preserving and protecting their natural habitats.
Greater DFW Recycling Alliance
A council within the Recycling Alliance of Texas, the mission of the Great DFW Recycling Alliance is to preserve the Texas environment by encouraging the reuse, reduction and recycling of goods and to promote the use of recycled-content goods and materials.
Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club
Sierra Clubs across the nation work together to protect communities and the planet. The Club is America’s oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization, founded in 1892 by John Muir in order “to do something for the wilderness and to make the mountains glad.”
North Central Texas Council of Governments
Serving a 16-county region, NCTCOG is a voluntary association of local governments formed to strengthen and assist them in planning for common needs and cooperating for mutual benefit and sound regional development.

The North Texas Corporate Recycling Association exists to promote recycling and the use of recycled goods to area businesses through leadership, advocacy and education.
Recycling Alliance of Texas
This organization fosters the exchange of recycling information among professionals, organizations, governmental entities, and individuals; complements and coordinates recycling industry initiatives; and acts as a clearinghouse of recycling resources.
Solutions for Our Future

Sustainable Dallas
Sustainable Dallas provides leadership, networking and guidance region-wide to businesses, institutions, and communities to create an economically profitable, socially responsible, and environmentally sound future.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
The state environmental agency, TCEQ oversees: policy and legislation; permits and licenses; contracts and funding; compliance, enforcement and cleanups; water availability and safety; and public education.
