OVERVIEW: Tech Fair 2007 will explore technology in the service of teaching, learning, and scholarly research. This year's faculty/staff event will offer presentations on the theme of intellectual property, and a lively panel session will also be open to entire UTA community. Technical training session and a faculty/staff luncheon will round out this annual day of dialogue, discourse, and discovery. Participate in discussions about intellectual property law and campus policies on digital media and copyright. Learn about rights management in scholarship and research; open access publishing; teaching legally with digital materials; and future plans for a UTA digital repository. Issues and events to be included: software piracy and copyright infringement; DMCA/RIAA compliance; and an exciting panel discussion on intellectual property. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Peter Suber (Earlham College and Senior Researcher, SPARC), will speak on open access to scientific and scholarly research literature. Other featured speakers include Mr. Steven Rosen (UT-System Office of General Counsel) and Mr. Mark McFarland (Co-Director, Texas Digital Library). UTA-based presenters will include Dr. Sumita Ghosh (Director, Office of Technology Management) Mr. Sean Lanham (IT Security Services), Ms. Heather Scalf (University Library, eReserves), Ms. Ramona Holmes (University Library) and Ms. Evelyn Barker (University Library, Information Literacy).
