The dramaturge position within a theatre deals mainly with research and development. This person consults with the director to determine the needs of the production and generally conducts research pertinent to the production and works with script analysis and interpretation as needed. A person interested in this field will often have efficient research and writing skills, patient and objective observation skills, structural analysis skills, and good communication skills in order to collaborate with others.
