Although 18th century audiences couldn't turn to reality TV for their daily dose of scandal, they had something far better: the scathing Restoration comedy of Richard Brinsley Sheridan. This comtemporary interpretation sets the play in present day Los Angeles, where the preening, posing and posturing of Sheridan's amazing cast of characters get a taste of Hollywood, Sunset Blvd. and Rodeo Drive. Will fortune and fashion trump true love? Gossip mogul Lady Sneerwell and her cohort Snake sink reputations over brunch at this classic comedy of manners cloaks itself in Armani and speeds down the Sunset Strip.
