Giles and Mollie Ralston, operate Monkswell Manor, a boarding house outside of London. They just opened their home to visitors and unknowingly have harbored a murderer. A blinding snowstorm has trapped the eccentric travelers, who are unaware of the heinous crime about to take place. Although 18th century audiences couldn't turn to reality TV for their daily dose of scandal, they had something far better: the scathing Restoration comedy of Richard Brinsley Sheridan. This comtemporary interpretation sets the play in present day Los Angeles, where the preening, posing and posturing of Sheridan's amazing cast of characters get a taste of Hollywood, Sunset Blvd. and Rodeo Drive. | Join us as we journey through a labyrinth of mistaken identities, surprise revelations, and unlikely interventions to a world where position is everything and the upstairs/downstairs divide is absolute. Interaction with some of Morzat's most famous operas and chacacters offers a unique and charming perspective on Mozart and his music complete with dancing, sword fighting, and shenanigans! Presented as a joint production of the UTA Departments of Theatre Arts and Music | PAPARAZZA explores the ramifications of celebrity and getting caught in the Hollywood machine. Meet Ally Wilder, a young female photographer driven to capture and sell images of the most outrageous celebrity scandals. After publishing compromising photos of a one-time child star, now an adult has-been, the paparazza soon finds the tables turned as she is coerced into sacrificing her own career for the washed out laminary's big comeback. |
