ABOUT
Gateway Advantage is a cooperative year-long program that provides structure and encourages the development of academic self-management skills needed for a successful college experience.
Freshmen selected for this program enjoy many benefits including:
- Individualized assistance identifying potential obstacles to academic success and help in removing those obstacles
- One-on-one advising sessions with Gateway Advisors
- Personal faculty attention, in a small class setting, in EDUC 1302
- Specialized Library Instruction for EDUC 1302 course projects
- Higher retention rates of Gateway students in comparison to similar freshmen not selected to the program
- Students are selected for the Gateway Advantage program during the admission process to UTA. First-time freshmen are selected on criteria that indicate a potential for academic success despite not meeting the admission requirements (minimum SAT/ACT scores and high school ranking) for regular admission to UTA.
