Counselors are available to assist students with personal, academic and career decisions. Their goal is to provide support services and help each student reach a solution to his/her situation. Individual counseling is offered for students by appointment or on a walk-in basis. Group counseling is also offered in addition to helpful student success seminars and presentations to classes and student groups.

The Economics Department provides FREE tutoring for undergraduates taking economics courses. Students must sign up for a time at least 24 hours in advance of instruction.

English Writing Center

The Writing Center provides free tutoring by undergraduate and graduate Peer tutors to help students work through writing problems at all stages of the process-from generating ideas to polishing the final draft. Students may walk in and sign up for tutoring, or they may make an appointment in advance. The Writing Center also houses a Macintosh computer lab with Internet and e-mail access.

The Math Clinic at UTA offers a solution for math anxiety, underdeveloped math skills, and a host of other related student math problems. Math Clinic tutors support students utilizing the Clinic’s resource library, sample test files, and worksheets.

The LRC provides undergraduate nursing students a place to develop, refine and apply knowledge in the clinical practice skills to be a competent beginning practitioner; the graduate students a setting to study selected aspects of clinical practice and education by providing needed learning resources; and faculty are provided with resources to support classroom teaching, clinical learning activities, and scholarly endeavors.

The Science Education and Career Center, formerly the Science Learning Center, offers a full spectrum of multi-media resource materials and study aids for students in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology classes. In cooperation with UTA faculty, the Center provides sample tests, homework solutions, reading materials for certain required courses, lab notes, study guides, and solutions manuals. Models and interactive CD-ROMs facilitate hands-on learning, and video tapes are available for on-site viewing. The video library includes information on emerging careers in various science disciplines.

The Testing Services Office provides information to help students identify tests they may want to take for undergraduate or graduate admission, or credit by examination. It is an official testing center for national testing programs such as SAT, ACT, GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, and the state mandated TASP. This office also coordinates credit by exam, advanced standing exams, and various tests for academic departments.
