MAT
(Miller’s Analogy Test)
The MAT is a high-level mental ability test requiring the solution of problems stated as analogies. The test is required at some universities for admission to graduate school, but is not accepted for admission to graduate school at UT Arlington. However, some departments require the MAT for graduate admission; please check with your department for requirements. The fee for the MAT is $70. The MAT is a computer administered test given Monday-Friday at 1:00 p.m. except for holidays.
The MAT consists of 100 partial analogies that are to be completed in 60 minutes. Fluency in the English language, a broad knowledge of literature, philosophy, history, science, mathematics, and fine arts, and the ability to reason out relationships may contribute to performance on the MAT. There is no foreign language edition of the MAT. Use of a dictionary or any other reference aid is not permitted when taking the MAT.
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is administered through a network of Controlled Testing Centers (CTCs) licensed by the Psychological Corporation to administer the MAT. UT Arlington Testing Services is a Controlled Testing Center. While the Psychological Corporation has rigorous procedures that all Controlled Testing Centers must follow, each Controlled Testing Center establishes its own testing schedule and its own procedures that candidates must follow to apply for the test. Controlled Testing Centers are responsible only for administering the MAT. The Psychological Corporation does all scoring and reporting of scores.
When requesting special accommodations, you must have the following turned in to the Testing Office prior to desired test date: A completed Accommodations Request Form; a signed HIPAA statement; A current letter (not more than 3 years old) from a licensed professional with training that is applicable to diagnosing the disability.
