Lynne Von Roeder Academic Advisor II
lvonroeder@uta.edu
Lynne joined the UAC in 2006. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from TCU in 1981 and her Masters of Education in Counseling from TCU in 2006. Lynne spent 17 years in the world of business, first owning her own restaurant and then in the world of corporate foodservice. During that time, she worked with a local Austin school on a grant project for underprivileged students. As a result of that she received a Presidential Commendation for Environmental Youth Education from Bill Clinton in 1995. This caused Lynne to further investigate the world of education and she began teaching at a school for students with learning differences in 1997. When the school decided to add a high school, she went back to TCU to get her masters in educational counseling. She served as the high school college and career counselor until May of 2005. After her graduate internship in the Career Services Center at TCU, she decided to pursue advising and counseling in the higher education arena. Lynne now serves as the lead advisor working with students in exploring and changing majors. She has a 21 year old son who is a student at Texas Tech and she loves to read, garden and travel.

She enjoys college basketball, reading, gardening (even though she says she is a terrible gardener), singing, and horseback riding. Her favorite word is “possibilities”. She loves to look for the possibilities in things, which means that she’s the crazy person taking other people’s “junk” and trying to do something tricky with it. Leigh will return to student life in the Fall 2006 as she begins to take courses again at UT Arlington to earn a degree in Sociology.
