ARLINGTON - Students from area high schools will have the opportunity to tour the workings of Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) Dallas Thursday, July 31, as part of The University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing’s annual STARS Camp.

STARS for Nursing is a program aimed at recruiting traditionally under-represented minorities into nursing education programs and, eventually, the nursing workforce.

While at BUMC, the students will visit the BUMC Radiology Department, Roberts Operating Room, ICU and more.  The tour will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Throughout the month-long camp, participants have been able to learn about nursing through patient simulator demonstrations in the School of Nursing’s Smart Hospital™, and have also heard presentations by career nurses and nursing students.  Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth, Cook Children's Medical Center, Medical Center of Arlington and USMD Hospital in Arlington also have participated this year.
