ARLINGTON - Dave Lieber, humorist, storyteller and consumer rights columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, is scheduled to speak to the Friends of the UT Arlington Library at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in the sixth floor at the Central Library, 702 Planetarium Place. He will discuss his new book, "Dave Lieber's Watchdog Nation," which gives readers tips on how to protect themselves against scams and educates the reader about their rights as consumers.  Copies of the book will be available for sale during the reception following Lieber's presentation.

Lieber recently won the newspaper's Editorial Employee of the Year Award and also the Katie Award from the Dallas Press Club for the best columnist in the Southwest.  He is co-founder of one of North Texas' largest children's charities, Summer Santa.  His work for Summer Santa earned him the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award, which honors a newspaper columnist whose work produced positive effects on the lives of readers.

The Friends' meeting is open to the public at no charge.  Contact Betty Wood at (817) 272-7421 or bwood@uta.edu by Jan. 28 to RSVP and to request special accommodations.
