ARLINGTON - Metroplex Day 2009 is scheduled Friday, March 6, at The University of Texas at Arlington.
Metroplex Day is a collaboration among UT Arlington, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and The University of Texas at Dallas. The goal is to highlight great science and research being conducted at all three institutions. Another objective is to get people thinking about future collaborations and to create greater awareness of interdisciplinary biomedical-related research.
Last year, about 450 faculty, post-doctoral and graduate students attended the event at UT Southwestern Medical School.
The presidents of each institution are to give a few remarks. Dr. George Georgiou, the Cockrell Family Regent's Chair in Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver the keynote lecture.
Registration is free but required for attendance or to enter a poster. The registration deadline is Feb. 27. Lunch and parking are free.
Poster topics include: biobehavioral factors in physical and mental health disorders, bioengineering, bioimaging, biomaterials and tissue, biotechnology; genomics, computational biologies and bioinformatics; nanomedicine and drug delivery, psychoneuroimmunology; and robotics and medical electronics bioimaging. Register/submit poster title at: http://www.uta.edu/metroplexdays/. Poster sizes may be a maximum 4-feet-by-4-feet. A $200 prize awarded will be awarded for each of the best three posters.
