ARLINGTON - Edward "Ted" Kennedy, who died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, visited Arlington State College on Sept. 30, 1960, while campaigning for his brother, then Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kennedy.
Pictured with Kennedy are Ricky Rapfogel, then a 14-year-old co-chairman of Teens for Kennedy, and Sam Houston Allred, then a UT law school student. The younger Kennedy won his brother's Senate seat in 1962 and became the third-longest serving senator in U.S. history.
Arlington State became The University of Texas at Arlington in 1967.
