CNN analyst to speak at UT Arlington

ARLINGTON - David Gergen, a CNN political analyst and former adviser to four presidents, is the next lecturer in The University of Texas at Arlington's Maverick Speakers Series. Gergen speaks at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Bluebonnet Ballroom in the E.H. Hereford University Center,  300 W. First St. Tickets are required and can be obtained free at www.utatickets.com.

David GergenGergen has been an observer, analyst and participant in American politics for more than 30 years. Though perhaps best known for his CNN commentary, Gergen formerly served as President Reagan's communications and held positions in the Nixon and Ford administrations. He counseled President Bill Clinton on foreign policy and domestic affairs and was special international adviser to the president and to Secretary of State Warren Christopher.

Gergen also is a professor of public service and the director of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and is editor-at-large at U.S. News & World Report. He is the author of the best-selling "Eyewitness to Power: The Essence of Leadership, Nixon to Clinton."

Gergen will discuss "Eyewitness to Power." A book signing will follow the lecture.
