ARLINGTON - The UT Arlington Office of Graduate Studies is host of GradFest '09, a graduate school information fair scheduled Oct. 14 that will match undergraduates, professionals and job-seekers with more than 30 colleges and universities.
The one-day event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the E.H. Hereford University Center, 300 W. First St. on the UT Arlington campus. Admission is free.
GradFest '09 is designed for those considering graduate and professional school and new graduate students, particularly those considering advanced academic training to boost their careers or job prospects. The even begins with a Graduate and Professional School fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center's Palo Duro Lounge. Participants may engage in roundtable discussions with admissions, financial aid and test preparation representatives from 11 a.m. to noon and 2 to 3 p.m.
Alumni and graduate student panel discussions will be held from noon to 12:45 p.m. and from 1 to 1:45 p.m.
The alumni panel will discuss making the most of the graduate school experience. Panelists will address topics such as mentoring, and balancing school, work and family life. In addition, a panel of current UT Arlington current graduate students will discuss their graduate school experiences.
Philip Cohen, Graduate School dean and vice provost for academic affairs, and Raymond Jackson, Graduate School associate dean and associate professor of psychology, will lead the panel discussions.
