What This Means to You
Basic tasks revert to content owners, Web managers
Content owners and Web managers for any part of the UT Arlington Web site should be able to add and delete pages, upload files and link to them, schedule the appearance and removal of content, and perform other basic tasks on their own.
Administration/Oversight of design and content
There should be a workflow for creating and changing information on the Web site, with provisions for selected design and content to go through an editorial process before becoming “live.”
Delegate maintenance access to the department level
Web managers should be able to manage permission to edit their pages. If certain content needs to be created by one individual, the local Web manager should be able to do that pretty much on demand, without going through HelpDesk.
Content aging
When the CMS committee met with campus Web managers in Spring 2006 to describe the UT Arlington CMS project, keeping content fresh was identified as a priority. Web managers want a way to pre-produce content, send it through an editorial process, schedule its appearance and disappearance, and be done with it.
