Academic Resource Center (ARC)

The Academic Resource Center, or ARC, is envisioned as a new one-stop academic support center catering to the needs of students living in university-owned housing.  The ARC combines peer mentoring, tutoring, supplemental instruction, and group study opportunities for students in Vandergriff Hall and its adjoining apartments, The Lofts at College Park.  The ARC concept represents an opportunity for collaboration between University Housing, Apartment and Residence Life, University College Programs, and the University College Learning Center.  With the ARC, we have a physical representation of the commitment made by UT Arlington to continued education both in and outside the classroom.

Physical Space

The ARC is located on the first floor of Vandergriff Hall, UT Arlington’s newest residence hall and part of the College Park District.  Situated conveniently in the lobby area, the ARC combines space for studying, access to computers, and a comfortable environment for individual and small group tutoring.  Equipment provided in the ARC includes computers, soft seating, tables, and a dry erase board.

Services Offered

At the ARC, students will find a variety of services operated by the University College Learning Center and University College Programs.  Students have the opportunity to register online through Tutor Trac for one-on-one tutoring and for use of Start Strong Freshman Tutoring Program hours.  Peer Academic Leaders will be available on a drop-in basis for assistance with creating a time management plan, improving study skills, individual student mentoring, and general academic questions and referrals to campus resources.  A schedule of drop-in tutor availability is updated throughout the semester at the ARC website and inside Vandergriff Hall to help with quick questions and to provide support on assignments.  Drop-in services are offered free-of-charge for residents of Vandergriff Hall and The Lofts at College Park.  Hour-long, one-on-one tutoring appointments will be subject to normal tutoring charges.

ARC Schedule

This website will be the official home of the ARC on the web.  Check below for the full schedule of drop-in PAL and Tutor availability.  While you're here, you'll also be able to find more information about the many programs and workshops offered throughout the semester by University College and Apartment and Residence Life.  Student are also invited to provide their feedback throughout the semester about the services in the ARC so we might serve you better.
