Tutor Training and Certification

Congratulations on becoming a tutor for UT Arlington's University Tutorial program. In order to help you succeed as a tutor, we have created a training course that will introduce you to some basic concepts and skills you will need to best serve the students of UT Arlington. The training course is divided into three sections, and students must achieve specific goals to move onto the next level of certification.

Certification

The following are the guidelines for qualifying for the three levels of tutor certification:

Level 1
  • At least 40 hours tutored
  • 12 hours of Level 1 training
  • Minimum of one "shadowing"
  • Positive Level 1 evaluation
Level 2
  • At least 85 hours tutored
  • 20 hours of Level 2 training
  • Positive Level 2 evaluation
Level 3
  • At least 120 hours tutored
  • 16 hours of Level 3 training
  • Positive Level 3 evaluation
