So now what?

Now it is time to start thinking about what your college experience will really be like.  What should you expect in your classes?  What will your faculty expect of you?  And how do you get prepared to meet those expectations?  The answers to these questions can be found at Success U, where you'll learn the secrets to achieving your goals.  Success U provides freshmen the opportunity to learn first hand from faculty and staff about the skills needed to achieve academic success in college and participate in hands-on programs that will help ease that first year anxiety.  Along with refresher courses in science and math, students will discover how to take notes from college faculty, how to study for exams, and how to earn the grades needed to succeed in your major.  Additionally, you'll get the opportunity to participate in UT Arlington's new student convocation, MavsMeet

In college, no one succeeds without a little help.  So join us for this uniquely specialized opportunity to learn all of the inside tips and tricks to guarantee college success at UT Arlington. 

At Success U, students can expect to:

  • Hear from faculty and staff about university expectations and what it takes to succeed in the classroom
  • Improve your reading, study, and test-preparation skills to compete at the college level
  • Talk to upperclass students about how they navigated their first year and how to avoid common first year mistakes
  • Refresh your college algebra, calculus, and writing skills in an environment that mimics what your class will really be like
  • Talk to advisors and learn more about UT Arlington's many resources
Success UDates and Times

Success U is a one-day program taking place on August 26th, which is the Wednesday before classes begin.  Check-in begins at 8:00am in the Palo Duro Lounge at the heart of the University Center.  Programs begin by 9:00am.

Registration

Online registration will open on June 11, 2015.  Students may choose to register online through the website or in-person at each New Maverick Orientation.  In-person registrations will be accepted on day 1 of each freshman orientation beginning on June 11, 2015 during the resources fair taking place during check-in or on day 2 during the class registration time.  Registration for the event includes lunch.

Additional Questions?
