What is University Studies?

To ensure that this degree program is the best option for you and your future goals, we require that all students apply to the program and include a written statement regarding their motivations for pursuing a University Studies degree.

NOTE: Students cannot apply for this program until they have completed at least 60 hours of undergraduate coursework that could be applied to a degree plan at UT Arlington.

Students who are considering pursuing a professional or graduate degree should conduct research about the requirements for the advanced degree and talk with a University Studies advisor to be sure the degree meets those requirements.

The deadline is Tuesday, January 9th for Spring 2018.  Students must submit the online application prior to these deadlines in order to be considered for acceptance to the University Studies degree program.  Once your application is submitted, you will receive an automatic email confirming that your application has been received.

Your next step is then to allow us up to 10 business days to process your application. Once it is processed, you will receive detailed instructions at your UTA email on scheduling advising for the upcoming semester.

Your major will not be changed to University Studies until your first meeting with an advisor to develop your University Studies Degree Plan.

How To Apply

There are two paths for pursuing a Bachelor of Science in University Studies. Answer the questions below to determine if you are eligible for University Studies and which is the best path to choose.

Are you a current UT Arlington Student?

If you answered NO, you are not eligible for admission to the program at this time. You must be an admitted student to apply. Contact the admissions office at the http://www.uta.edu/admissions/ to determine the status of your application. Once you have been accepted to the university you can apply to the University Studies program.

If you answered YES, continue with the following questions to determine the correct application to choose.

DO YOU HAVE AT LEAST 60 HOURS OF CREDIT THAT CAN BE USED FOR THE DEGREE?

If you answered NO, you are not eligible for admission to the program at this time. Please contact the University Advising Center at 817/272-3140 to schedule an appointment with an undeclared advisor. Once you have completed 60 or more hours, you can apply to the University Studies program.

If you answered yes to both of these questions pick either the on campus option (standard application) or the online option(Finish@UT).
