THEA Test (IBT)

The THEA exam may not be used for Teacher Education Program entrance or as an accepted TSI exam.  However, some other programs or institutions may be using it for other purposes, and as such UTA Testing Services is still offering the exam.  

The THEA is a four-hour,computer administered exam.  Registration is available online up until 24 hours prior to the test date. Capacity is limited for each test date.  Testing sessions are available Monday through Saturday.  When you go through the registration process (see step one below) you can pick from the available time slots.

THEA Test Registration - two step process

1.  UTA students register at students.utatesting.timetrade.com. You must have your 10-digit UTA ID number to register. Non-UTA students register at nonstudents.utatesting.timetrade.com.

Fees: $40 non-refundable administration fee payable to UTA; and $29 testing fee to THEA (see below). 

2.  THEA requires that you go to their web site and pay their $29 testing fee prior to the day of the test.  After you sign up for a test date, go to http://www.thea.nesinc.com to purchase your THEA test and any study materials.  The THEA fee is non-refundable. The registration platform will allow you to purchase a THEA exam 24/7, manage your personal information any time prior to taking the exam, search for test centers, select your score recipient institution, and purchase study materials. Once you register on THEA, make sure to note your email address and password for the THEA account you create as you will need it when you arrive at the test center on test day.  You cannot take your THEA test without knowing the email address and password used when purchasing your test from THEA!

No Standbys - you must be registered to take the test.

Score Information

Final scores are posted approximately two (2) business days after you take the THEA IBT Test. To see if your University has received your scores, contact your Admissions office or the test company at 866-565-4879.  If you are a UTAstudent, you can contact our office at testing@uta.edu.
