The premier publication for prospective Native American college students has again ranked The University of Texas at Arlington among the nation’s best universities for Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students to study science, technology, engineering and math.

The UTA men's basketball team received a Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. UTA, which posted a 3.0 grade point average in the spring, was one of just two Sun Belt Conference programs to earn the honor.

Evolutionary biology

Matthew Walsh, an assistant professor of biology, has been awarded a five-year, $600,000 grant from the NSF’s Faculty Early Career Development Program. His project is titled “CAREER: Does behavioral plasticity promote or constrain adaptation? A test using resurrection,” and will address a long-standing question in evolutionary biology.

A new book, co-authored by UTA's Shima Hamidi in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs, empirically shows how badly sprawl affects health and other quality-of-life outcomes.

UTA mechanical engineer publishes findings that show brain damage that could occur from blast-induced cavitation

Neural knowledge

UTA published research findings in Scientific Reports that shows a link between battlefield blasts, bubbles in the brain and neuronal damage. Ashfaq Adnan led the published research, which stems from an Office of Naval Research Warfighter Performance grant.
