An initial UTA study has found abnormalities in drinking water in the Eagle Ford Shale region, indicative of some contamination from industrial or agricultural activities in the area. The research, led by Professor Kevin Schug, was published recently in the journal "Science of the Total Environment."

The University of Texas at Arlington has awarded a record 11,526 degrees for the 2015-16 academic year. UTA has also been recognized by Diverse Issues in Higher Education as a leader for degrees conferred to minority students.

A UTA bioengineer's perseverance throughout her life has earned her the inaugural Embracing Challenge Award from Materials Today magazine and the Elsevier Materials Science Council. Kytai Nguyen, the UTA bioengineering professor, will be honored at the Materials Research Society conference Nov. 29 in Boston, Mass.

VB: Momentum continues as Mavs sweep road trip
