The UTA Libraries received a $25,000 TexTreasures grant to scan 15,000 negatives from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram photographic collection. The project continues an effort started last year to digitize negatives documenting the transformation of Fort Worth during World War II.

The Sun Belt Conference announced that 122 student-athletes from The University of Texas at Arlington made the league’s Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll during the 2016-17 academic year. UTA’s student-athletes also earned the third-highest graduation rate among all Division I public institutions in Texas.

Music alumna wins professional vocal competition in Italy

University of Texas at Arlington alumna and critically acclaimed mezzo soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis won both the Grand Prize and Audience Prize at the Concorso Lirico di Portofino, a prestigious vocal competition in Portofino, Italy.

UTA astrophysicists have predicted that an Earth-like planet may be lurking in a star system just 16 light years away. The researchers published their findings today as “Dynamics of a probable Earth-Like Planet in the GJ 832 System” in The Astrophysical Journal.

Peter Zotor studies biochemistry at UTA and plans to attend medical school. One of the first cohort of 21 undergraduates who received $3,000 to pursue undergraduate research over the summer, he described the new UTA-sponsored Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program as a “transformative experience.”
