GM has partnered with LULAC to open a new technology center on the UTA campus, KXAS/NBC 5 reported. Students and community members may use the space at the Center for Mexican American Studies to engage in STEM studies.

Laser efficiency

Weidong Zhou, a University of Texas at Arlington electrical engineering professor, is working to develop a new ultra-thin semiconductor laser that could be integrated into consumer electronics to increase speed and capacity of the chips.

The Fort Worth Weekly reported that UTA is one step closer to becoming a Tier One university in that the National Academy of Inventors has named three from UTA as fellows last month. The recent inductees include Kenneth Reifsnider, David Nygren and Duane Dimos.
