With new structures continually rising from the landscape, UT Arlington's physical campus is undergoing a dramatic transformation. These ambitious projects represent literal signs of growth for a university steadily increasing in national prominence, and they provide visual proof of our progress toward becoming a major research university.

  • In the past 10 years, the total square footage in all campus buildings has increased more than 30 percent to 5,227,681.

  • The 234,000-square-foot Engineering Research Building opened in January 2011 and will enhance research partnerships between the College of Engineering and College of Science.

  • The striking 7,000-seat, $78 million College Park Center opened in February 2012 and already has hosted UT Arlington men's and women's basketball games, a major concert, and an ESPN boxing event. It also will host UT Arlington and high school commencement ceremonies, as well as other high-profile University and community events.

  • The College Park mixed-use development promises to accelerate the resurgence of downtown Arlington. Scheduled to be completed in summer 2012, the $80 million project includes street-level retail, a residence hall and apartments for 600 students, an 1,850-vehicle parking garage, and the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center.

  • The Optical Medical Imaging Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center provides lab space for UT Arlington engineering researchers to work collaboratively with physicians from UT Southwestern to battle serious illnesses.

  • The College of Nursing's Smart Hospital provides 13,000 square feet of space for student nurses to use cutting-edge technology. The facility features more than 30 full-body patient simulators.

  • The Maverick Activities Center offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment and recreation facilities as well as a computer lab, video-gaming area, and more than 75 plasma TVs.

  • UT Arlington's library facilities provide access to more than 1.2 million physical volumes, 41,000 full-text print and electronic periodicals and newspapers, 241,000 e-books, and a rapidly growing collection of digital and analog media.

  • The Automation and Robotics Research Institute (ARRI) in Fort Worth is home to the Texas Microfactory, a collection of assembly and packaging laboratories for micromanufacturing. ARRI stimulates economic growth through research and manufacturing extension services.
