Bioengineering Associate Professor Kytai Nguyen has received an American Heart Association grant to study how physical and biological factors influence the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, a condition that can lead to heart disease. Dr. Nguyen says knowing how smooth muscle cells respond to change in their environment could lead to a better understanding of how vascular disease develops.
