School of Social Work researchers are helping reduce the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder in women from war-torn countries through WORN, a project in which the refugees knit scarves. Assistant Professors Regina Aguirre and Diane Mitschke began their study with 47 women from Bhutan who exhibited PTSD. They discovered that those participating in WORN no longer met the criteria for PTSD. WORN is one of nine projects in the school’s Innovative Community Academic Partnership.
