Field narrowed for president

The search for a UTA president is entering its final stages.

An 18-member committee headed by Teresa Sullivan, U.T. System executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, reviewed more than 100 applications before narrowing the field to around 20. Committee members then conducted face-to-face interviews with about half of those candidates before preparing an unranked list for the U.T. System Board of Regents to consider.

"We learned a number of interesting things from these interviews, including how attractive U.T. Arlington is as a campus," Dr. Sullivan said. "Several candidates praised the University's rapid growth, the quality of its faculty, the expansion of campus housing and the variety of degree programs."

Those who are named finalists by the regents will make official visits to the campus.
