Army Elite

Major General Lester Simpson ('83 BA)

Major General Lester Simpson ('83 BA), who spoke at the May commencement of the College of Liberal Arts, worked his way through college at UTA and then embarked on a double career path, balancing careers in the Texas Army National Guard and United Parcel Service. He also used his various command positions and authority in the National Guard to work with and support local communities in the greater Dallas area. His selection as commanding general of the 36th Infantry Division ranks him among the elite in the National Guard and U.S. Army, as only a few are trusted to command one of the Army's eight National Guard and 10 active duty Army divisions.
