Aditya N. Das, Ph.D.

Division Head, Automation & Intelligent Systems

Group: Research / Automation-and-Intelligent-Systems

Aditya Das, Ph.D, joined The University of Texas Arlington Research Institute (UTARI) in January 2010, known then as the Automation and Robotics Research Institute. Currently, he is working as a Senior Research Scientist at UTARI as the head of the Automation & Intelligent Systems Division. Das maintains a joint appointment in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UTA as a Special Member of the graduate faculty.

His current research and development focus includes flexible manufacturing, heterogeneous system integration, low volume manufacturing, knowledge-based automation, miniaturization technology, and enhanced human-machine interface.

While pursuing a master's degree in electrical engineering, Das participated in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) development program, funded by the U. S. Army Research Office, the National Science Foundation, and National Instruments. His dissertation for his doctorate degree focused on 3D microsystems and related enabling technologies, funded by multiple research grants from the U.S. Office of Naval Research. The research was oriented towards developing novel and unique technologies, based on active and intelligent robotic manipulation, for construction of miniature systems consisting of complex, heterogeneous parts, arranged in an intricate device design layout that requires extremely high precision in alignment. He received his master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from UTA in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

Das is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has authored and coauthored 35 technical publications in international conferences, journals and magazine articles. He is also the co-inventor of 3 pending U.S. patents.
